Images à la Sauvette
First edition. Folio, original boards illustrated by Henri Matisse (issued without a dust jacket). Paris, Editions Verve. 1952
The book Robert Capa called "a bible for photographers", Henri Cartier-Bresson's Images à la Sauvette (known in English under the title The Decisive Moment) is one of the most influential photobooks of all time. This copy includes a copy of a two page typed letter from Richard L. Stern at Simon and Schuster (who published the book in English) giving a technical description of Cartier-Bresson's process, the equipment he used and how the film was developed.
An excellent copy, points bumped, head and tail of spine slightly pushed with resultant creasing.
