Death Note Black Edition, Vol. 1
Tsugumi Ohba
What if we could somehow ease the suffering of others, our neighbors, our fellow man? What if we were able to exact judgement upon those who are "evil." Would we do it? Would we be willing to take up the gavel and "Play God"? Death Note has probably impressed me more than any other manga I've read. Its degree of sophistication in all categories — story, characters, and artwork — is incredible. The story is significant, the characters are engaging, the artwork is beautiful. This is one of those titles that almost anyone can enjoy; better yet, I feel like this is one of those titles that can act as a gateway for a new manga reader, encouraging them to explore the medium further.
This contains the first two volumes of Death Note.
