How To Be a Woman
Caitlin Moran
At first I liked all the Star Wars references but after she twice incorrectly asserted that Darth Vader oversaw the construction of three Death Stars I realised I was being talked down to. Her final theory is that men are essentially dogs. I felt a little sad to read that. Nevertheless, beyond the apocryphal Death Star, there is nothing essentially untrue in this book. Men are kinda like dogs - and I, for one, happen to like dogs a great deal. Buy it for your best friend; maybe he'll learn some new tricks.

It's a good time to be a woman: we have the vote and the Pill, and we haven't been burnt as witches since 1727. However, a few nagging questions do remain...
Why are we supposed to get Brazilians? Should we use Botox? Do men secretly hate us? And why does everyone ask you when you're going to have a baby?
Part memoir, part rant, Caitlin answers the questions that every modern woman is asking.
