No One Knows

As always, Dazai's books are not wholesome reads, but nonetheless they are extremely emotionally impactful. No One Knows is a collection of short stories, each with a female protagonist. The stories show the strength and resilience of women through the hardships of both external and internal conflicts, set against the backdrop of World War II in Japan. Their battlefields however, though no less grave, are the city streets, local bars and their own living rooms.
